Welcome to MIEL & MEEL

Why hello there, fancy meeting you here!

Thank you for seeking out my little corner of the world wide web; I am truly delighted to have you and sure we'll have a marvellous time working ourselves into a consensual lather about all things beautiful and delicious.

Who in the world is Inemari?

First things first, let’s get the introductions out of the way. My name is Inemari Rabie and I am an Afrikaans-speaking South African food stylist, chef and recipe developer living in Nice with my husband Kevin. We moved here a little over a year ago, when Kevin joined the incredibly talented team at JAN, a local South African-inspired eatery owned and operated by the inimitable Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, which recently received its first hard-won Michelin star!

I studied at the Institute of Culinary Arts (ICA) in Stellenbosch and cut my teeth in the food styling world at well-known South African publications like TASTE, Rooi Rose, Fairlady and Food & Home. When we made the bold move to relocate to France, I joined forces with Jan Hendrik to develop his blog and promote his wonderfully inventive foodie excursions.

What I’m up to at the moment

MIEL & MEEL is my attempt to create a beautiful platform to showcase the new recipes and gorgeous images I gather on my food adventure here in France. Aside from this, I am now also a registered EatWith host, something that I am very excited about. The EatWith network spans 150 countries and 300 cities, and gives food adventurers the opportunity to dine at home with locals who have a proven flair for cooking and entertaining.

What’s up with the name?

MIEL & MEEL is a little linguistic joke that points to the fact that I am straddling two food cultures – South African + French. Miel is the French term for honey; Meel is the Afrikaans word for flour. It is my hope that my take on the merger of these two unique cultures will prove to be both entertaining and inspiring.

Stop back soon for some tasty recipes!

Au revoir/Groetnis,

Inemari
